News: Melanie Herrera Shares New Single “I Think I Lied” Ahead of Debut Album
Today, pop singer-songwriter Melanie Herrera announces her debut album, A Fearful & Wondrous Thing, arriving May 28. Alongside the announcement, she shares the project’s final pre-release single, “I Think I Lied.”
Playful and flirtatious, “I Think I Lied” captures the tension of romantic indecision, balancing bright pop production with the emotional messiness of second-guessing a goodbye. “‘I Think I Lied’ is a sexy, playful contradiction about the moment you realize you didn’t quite mean your goodbye, and how easy it is to romanticize something you meant to let go,” Herrera shares.
The single offers another glimpse into A Fearful & Wondrous Thing, a record Herrera describes as deeply personal and reflective of her growth both as a person and artist. “At its core, this record is an arrival—both to life and to myself as an artist,” she explains. “These songs came after I finally broke free of that story, and they reflect a life lived in full, complete with love, grief, mystery, joy, and all the beautiful chaos of being alive.”
To celebrate the album’s release, Herrera will perform a release show at New York City’s Bowery Palace on June 4.
Based in New York City, Herrera blends emotional storytelling with cinematic pop sensibilities, a sound she calls “storybook-pop.” Raised by Mexican and Argentine parents in the Philadelphia area, she grew up surrounded by music, eventually finding an audience online through her viral “Nepo Baby Vocal Warm-Ups” series alongside her husband. The videos have earned millions of views across TikTok and Instagram and led to collaborations with names including Dancing With the Stars, Kate Hudson, and Hugh Jackman.
