In an exclusive conversation with Alicia’s Studio, Hevel opens up about his latest single “Emergency” and the creative shift that has been quietly shaping his sound over the past year. Known for blending alternative pop with experimental textures, Hevel is currently in a phase defined less by certainty and more by exploration—testing boundaries, revisiting influences, and learning how to finish ideas instead of just imagining them.

“Emergency” marks one of his most direct and intentionally catchy releases to date, pulling from hyper-pop, electro-pop, and alternative pop influences while still maintaining a personal edge. Hevel credits artists like Porter Robinson, ericdoa, and tsubi club as sonic reference points during the track’s development, though he emphasizes that the goal was never imitation.

“I was trying to make something really catchy and digestible,” he explains. “But still something that feels like me.”

That balance between accessibility and experimentation sits at the core of his current creative direction. While “Emergency” leans into a more polished, high-energy sound, Hevel describes it as part of a larger process of figuring out what his music can be, rather than locking into what it already is.

Creative Pressure and Letting Go

Behind the release, Hevel also reflects on the internal pressure that comes with being both an artist and a full-time university student. As someone studying industrial design, he often finds himself navigating two creative worlds at once—both influencing how he thinks about structure, aesthetics, and execution.

Still, one of the biggest lessons he’s been learning is how to actually let go of perfection.

“If you don’t finish it, it’s not a song—it’s just an idea,” he says. “I’ve been trying to be less stubborn and actually get things out.”

That mindset shift has helped him move through creative blocks more efficiently, especially during a year he describes as heavily focused on experimentation and trial-and-error.

Balancing music with school has also played a major role in shaping his current perspective. Most of his work is still created at home, where he builds ideas from scratch before refining them into full releases.

Despite the workload, Hevel sees this dual life as something that keeps him grounded rather than limited.

“I think being in school actually helps me stay more real about everything,” he shares. “It reminds me that music is something I love—it’s not just pressure.”

That separation between passion and expectation is something he continues to actively protect as his audience grows and his releases become more intentional.

With multiple singles already pointing toward a larger body of work, Hevel confirms that an upcoming album is currently in progress, with a projected release window in late spring.

While he remains careful about revealing too much, he hints that this next chapter will expand on the experimental direction introduced in “Emergency,” while still evolving his sound further.

For now, he’s focused on finishing what he’s started—without overthinking where it leads.

And in many ways, that approach feels like the clearest signal of where Hevel is headed next: not toward a fixed identity, but toward a constantly shifting one he’s learning to trust.
