pH-1 Is Popping off with Some New Hits
Popping Off
Known for dropping great hits rapper Park Jun-won better known as pH-1 who also goes by his English name Harry is a rapper who signed with h1ghr Music in 2017. His first album “The Island Kid” gave him much recognition and led him to a road of success. Harry has a way with words that just flow — he’s a flowy rapper in general. He continued with the releases of his other albums “Halo” in 2019, “X” in 2020, and “But for Now Leave Me Alone” in 2022. Now giving us a new EP in 2023 “Pop Off” that consists of six new tracks.
As an artist pH-1 has never put his music into one genre. With each album, single, or EP you can see how it's different and how he explores different wavelengths. He's a story writer and a storyteller. He's good with voicing his emotions through his music which is why many people find his music to be relatable.
Diving into the tracks
His first track “ROSETTA (Feat. MILLI)” starts off strong with the beat and the “woo” sound blending in with the melody. Off the bat, he starts with “I'm a go-getter.” One thing about Harry is that he has the flow of no other. His music always shows how he hits different genres in each track, with this one giving more of a club vibe. Compared to his previous album BFNLMA this one has more of an upbeat feel to it. This is one of those songs that will surely stay stuck in your head after one listen.
Track 2:
Moving onto the second track “COSIGN (Feat. oygli),” this one is more flowy. His raps and his low voice go perfectly with it. His little flexes in the beginning honestly make me so proud. He’s such a humble artist. It's refreshing to hear him talk about his accomplishments at the beginning of this song. It’s as if he's telling a story from the bottom and now he's on top not needing the help of anyone because he made it. For the outro to this song he ends it off strongly with a big fuck you- I don’t care about your opinion or anything you have to say about me by saying “Go help somebody else. Matter of fact, help yourself”.
Track 3:
Track three, ‘‘INCUBATOR” is a jumpy song, one that I can picture playing at a club. He starts it off with a catchy beat that sounds like you’re part of a rave. This is the type of song to make you get up and do a cartwheel and to top it all off hit the splits after. His flow throughout each and every song is extravagant. When he gets to the song and hits us with “Been too busy” and continues it with “I'm worldwide touring”. No one can do it like pH-1 does it.
U TELL ME
“U TELL ME (Feat. P-Lo)” is track four and a personal favorite. One thing about pH-1 is that he knows how to come up with an authentic vibe. He isn't afraid of stepping out of his bubble, specifically with flows and the way he's so smooth with each lyric. “Shortie said she wanna end up in my bed, oooh. She gave me her cat, made it purr (Made it purr)”.This whole track was just one of those that’ll be on replay.
LUST
Track 5,‘‘ LUST (iykyk) (Feat. DeVita)” This one had more of a calmer vibe to it. It reminded me of the flow from one of his older songs “Wavy”. Personally, his singing voice is so soothing to me and would love to hear more of his singing in future tracks. “If I could be honest. I just wanna make a mess. Till I have to go get a new bed”. In particular, this song had more of a strong sexual desire hence the title “lust”.
Track 6:
Ending it off with track six, “360o (Feat. CHIKA)”. This one has more of a deeper vibe to it with a catchy ring. With the mixture of both, it's still a song you can play in your car without tearing up. The robotic high-pitched voice pulls this track all together. As the last track of the album, it's more of a lovey song. It's as if the song is telling the story of someone trying to find out whether his lover would continue loving him no matter what. It’s an enchanting song with a mix of heartac
POP OFF
Overall, this EP was truly a masterpiece and fans expected nothing less coming from Harry. He not only does music but he also has a clothing brand of his own that he announced earlier this year under the name Ego Fetch. With that being said if you haven't given the EP a listen to right now would be the time!
