Peso Pluma Is Breaking Barriers for Música Mexicana

The artist born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, otherwise known as Peso Pluma is a Mexican Singer who recorded and released his first studio album in 2020 but didn’t gain recognition until 2022 for his hit single ‘El Belicon’ which hit 10 million views on YouTube in just three days.
Peso Pluma is known for being different in the scene of música Mexicana regional. He stands out because he explores different genres and isn’t afraid to dip his feet into the deep ends. He does what he wants and makes the music that he wants. He gets criticized by so many yet he’s still doing big things.
A New Era
With that, he started to create and do things that no one had ever seen or heard before. He had many hits where he was the feature like for the song ‘Ella Baila Sola’ with former artist Eslabon Armado. This song kept on bringing him recognition and he kept putting himself out there. He never stopped working hard. He went from collab to collab. From performing at Coachella with Becky G to doing his own solo tour for his album that was released in 2023 under the name ‘Génesis’.
With this studio album, he blew up more than ever and opened a new door for Música Mexicana Regional. He isn’t the first artist to break down barriers when it comes to making and performing corridos. He announced his studio album last year in June and had the promotion video for it with Mike Tyson which blew everyone’s mind. ‘Génesis’ consisted of 14 new songs that all hit records. He was number one on the music charts for Top Latin Albums (Billboard) and Regional Mexican Albums (Billboard).
With the release of ‘Génesis’, Peso announced a tour for this album under the name “The Doble P Tour” which sold out for all 31 stops. This was the artist's first time coming to the States to tour and he was welcomed by his fans with lots of love. I had the pleasure of going to the last stop for his Los Angeles date and wow. He is a performer.
The way he could keep his energy and have everyone in the crowd hyped up. For many of the songs that he performed, he had the whole stadium singing loud and clear. He has great things coming his way and he continues to grow and exceed everyone's expectations.
Upcoming
Just this year he had many collaborations, one that went viral was his song with Kali Uchis, ‘Igual Que Un Àngel’ and his most recent release which dropped a month ago ‘Rompe La Dompe’ has fans excited for the album that is yet to come.
Earlier this month he announced a tour "Exodo” which has over 40 stops and with that, he hinted that he has his album coming out soon under the title “Exodo”
Making It
The future looks bright for Peso Pluma and you can see how passionate he is when it comes to music. He chose the path of being an artist and he’s gained a huge following.
His Hard work earned him a Grammy this year and that itself tells you a lot. Not just him but he’s one of the artists who is putting música Mexicana Regional on the map.
The year just started and he’s already making big moves.
