Jonah: Handford’s Biggest Influence
Introducing Jonah Mf Love
Born and raised in Hanford, Jonah Love started on TikTok and slowly started to release music after that. He always mentions how music has always been something that he has been passionate about.
He first released music on all official platforms on September 26, 2020. This was an EP under the name “Decisions”, when I first heard this EP I instantly knew that he was passionate about what he does. Jonah has a distinct voice, when you hear his music you get a sense that this naturally comes to him.
When it comes down to Jonah’s music it’s always personal. He speaks on topics that many people can relate to. He’s realistic and his music says a lot about him as a person. He isn’t afraid to express himself through his music.
His single “Coe Park '' which was released on February 16th starts off with such a nice melody that lets you absorb everything that's about to come from the song. He has a way of making each of his songs unique in his own way. This song in particular has a soothing vibe to it with a mix of a jazz vibe. In the background, you can hear the instrumentals that smoothly blend in with his voice.
““I walk around my city why do I feel like I’m still trapped in”
“I’m Handfords biggest influence”
Coe Park
“do you know what it means to do the shit that I’m doing”
“I never was a scholar there was no chance to go to college”
On Behalf of Hanford
With this single, it has similar vibes to some of his other music. Jonah’s vibe is very authentic; it is like no other. It's something so familiar yet so rare. You don't hear music like this anymore. It's one of those songs that you can put on and be like “damn this is relatable”.
One thing that is noticeable about his music and this song in particular is how he’s always representing his hometown Hanford and how he always mentions how he made it out like he said he would. He's not one to stick to one genre he explores different genres and that’s what makes him such a great artist. His tone throughout the whole song sounded serious but he has such a storytelling voice that you easily get immersed into the song.
Diving In
Diving deeper into the song the single “Coe Park” feels like one of those liberating songs. It's one of those songs that are relatable. He talks about his struggles, he voices his emotions, and he talks about real topics that you don’t see people open about. Being open about struggles is something that isn’t easy but he does so well when it comes to telling his story.
The way the beat drops and the melody just flows with his voice. He has a specific way of telling his story. He starts off with “I walk around my city why do I feel like I’m still trapped in”. The beginning of the song feels like the opening of the story. You can instantly feel that he’s about to get into something that’ll immerse you into a new dimension. Lyrically he truly did that. The way he easily puts all of his struggles and experiences into a song amazes me.
Although it was just a single when it comes down to Jonah’s music he always exceeds everyone's expectations. It's been a while since he dropped an EP or a full album but I can’t wait to see where he takes his career. Hopefully, he has a showcase soon or does a little opening for future music drops.
Making It Out
Overall, this single was such a beautiful track. I'm excited to see what else he has stored and hopefully, we can get a full album for the next release. As it was said before Jonah has such a connection with music and you can visibly see it with the stuff he releases. When it comes down to creativity and talent he has it all. The way his singing and rapping smoothly go with any beat or track and the way you can see the creativity that is put into every video and song. I can’t wait to see where the future takes him and I wish him nothing but good luck and a lot of streams for future and upcoming work!
