The K-pop scene welcomes a fresh burst of energy with the debut of HITGS, a five-member girl group making their official entrance with The 1st Single [Things we love : H]. Short for Hip, Innocent, Teenager, Girls, and Story, the group’s name might sound ambitious, but their first release delivers enough charisma and cohesion to back it up.

Produced by the legendary Ryan Jhun—whose credits span from SHINee and Taeyeon to IU and IVE—this debut immediately benefits from expert hands behind the scenes. The result? A tight two-track single that offers a dynamic glimpse into HITGS’s musical and emotional world.

The lead track, “SOURPATCH,” is a sweet-and-sour concoction of groovy 808s and bouncy drums, layered with a sticky melody that nestles into your brain after one listen. Lyrically, it leans into a relatable, almost diary-like take on the thrill and confusion of first love—simple, direct, and refreshingly unpretentious. The accompanying music video amps up the charm, painting the girls in a dreamlike palette of pastel teenhood and playful confidence.

Its B-side, “Never Be Me,” shifts into brighter terrain. A punchy dance-pop anthem with minimalist beats and a feel-good chorus, the track shows off the group’s versatility. It’s youthful, yes, but not naïve—there’s a subtle boldness in its message of self-assuredness that speaks to the group’s identity: fresh, fearless, and self-aware.

Visually and vocally, each member brings something distinct. SEOJIN commands attention as a magnetic dancer and rapper, while SEOHEE provides vocal stability with powerful delivery. HYERIN, positioned as the visual center, radiates star quality, and IYOO, the group’s maknae, delivers sharp rap lines and high-energy choreography. VV rounds it out with her sweet vocals and striking presence. Together, they form a well-balanced lineup that feels ready for the long game.

More than just an introduction, Things we love : H feels like a manifesto. HITGS is here to celebrate both the loud and quiet moments of youth—the overlooked details, the daily joys, the bittersweet milestones. “We want to keep talking about all those big and small things that make every day special,” the group shared. That sincerity bleeds into their music, giving this debut emotional depth beyond its glittery surface.

With this release, HITGS doesn’t just stake their claim as rookies to watch—they offer a sound and sentiment that already feels personal. And if their first single is any indication, this won’t be the last time they make something worth loving.
